About us:

Roberto Ascencio Jr.—affectionately known as Pastor Rob—was born in El Salvador and immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of four. He spent his formative years in Belleville, Ontario, where he nurtured a dream of becoming the first Salvadoran Latino to play in the NHL. In those years, his family attended Victoria Avenue Baptist Church, which is also a CBOQ church.

At the age of twelve, Roberto’s family relocated to Kitchener, Ontario, and began attending Cristo Para Todos, a Spanish-speaking church here at King St Baptist. It was within this close-knit congregation that Roberto’s spiritual journey deepened. He began serving faithfully as both a Worship Leader and Youth Leader, roles that would lay the foundation for his future in ministry.

Between 2012 and 2013, Roberto felt a growing call toward pastoral ministry—a call he initially wrestled with. Despite the internal struggle, he could not ignore the passion and burden God placed on his heart to preach the Gospel. This conviction ultimately led to the birth of Immanuel City Church in May of 2016, a church planted from a long-standing vision held by the pastor of Cristo Para Todos and its congregation.

Pastor Rob’s commitment to both ministry and community development is reflected in his academic and professional accomplishments:

• In 2016, he graduated from the CBOQ Lay Pastor Training Program 

• That same year he was Ordained by the Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec (CBOQ) and King Street Baptist Church, affirming his pastoral calling and leadership.

• He earned a Social Service Worker Diploma from Fanshawe College in 2020, equipping him with tools to support individuals and families in need.

• He continues to study at Wilfrid Laurier University, majoring in Children and Youth Studies, further deepening his understanding of youth development and care.

• He is actively involved in the community as a coach with the Kitchener Minor Baseball Association, mentoring young athletes and fostering teamwork and character.

Pastor Rob is bi-vocation currently working at Family & Children's Services of the Waterloo Region.

Pastor Rob has been married to his wife, Edna, for 19 years and together, they are proud parents to two children. As a family, they share a deep passion for helping others encounter God in a transformative way and live in the fullness of life that Jesus has to offer.

Whether on the field or at the office, Pastor Rob is always ready to lend an ear and share a word of encouragement with you.

My name is Elizabeth, and my husband is Sendi. We have two beautiful children—Dominic, and Ivy, they are my treasures.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, and I am the third-born in a family of six children.

In July 2023, we moved to Canada from Uganda, Africa, in search of a fresh start. We came with hopeful hearts, daring to dream big and striving for a better future for ourselves, our children, and our community.

I enjoy spending time in nature, especially going for walks. I also love dancing, listening to music, and watching movies. Above all, I strive to be a positive influence on everyone around me.

My faith is very important to me. I love God and Jesus deeply. Through every season of my life—through challenges and joyful moments—He has been my constant. Especially during this new journey, I have felt His presence guiding and supporting me and my family in ways I cannot fully express.

I joined King Street Baptist Church in November 2023. From the very first visit, I felt at home. For a while, Dominic and Ivy were the only children, but we are grateful that God has since blessed them with friends. The congregation is made up of truly wonderful people who have shown us tremendous love and support.
